Kenny Sprinkle
Kenny Sprinkle is a sculptor, manipulating organic matter and drawing his inspiration from natural and fantastical worlds. The rustic aura of his work is enhanced by the earthy surfaces, often painted by the ash and flames from firing in a wood kiln. While handbuilding techniques dominate the majority of his work, he is currently exploring a throwing and altering process to achieve some of his horn forms. Fascinations with science and sci-fi are evident in many of his otherworldly and naturally derived vessels.
Kenny is a graduate of Ball State University earning a BFA in Ceramics and a BS in Visual Arts Education. Since then, he has worked at the Indianapolis Art Center [IAC] taking on several roles including Studio Technician, Ceramics Instructor, and Summer Camp Director. His time at the IAC provided the opportunity to work with the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired [ISBVI], eventually becoming their art teacher for a couple of years. Kenny is currently renting studio space and teaching ceramic classes at the Fountain Square Clay Center.
